R&B star Chlöe Bailey made waves during an Instagram Live session on Wednesday (Nov. 27), where she candidly shared her admiration for Kendrick Lamar. The “Treat Me” singer hopped on to connect with fans and discuss Lamar’s surprise sixth studio album, GNX, which dropped last Friday (Nov. 22).

“I have had it on repeat for the past four, five days since it’s been out,” Chlöe admitted, according to REVOLT. Featuring 12 tracks, GNX includes collaborations with SZA, Roddy Ricch, AzChike, and other California-based artists. Chlöe highlighted a few of her favorite tracks, including “man in the garden,” the Luther Vandross-inspired “luther,” and “tv off.”

While gushing over the project, Chlöe revealed her longstanding admiration for the Compton rapper, dating back nearly a decade. “About eight years ago, I had a whole Kendrick phase,” she confessed.

“I was convinced I was going to be with him.”

She noted this phase was part of a series of artistic obsessions, which also included Frank Ocean, FKA twigs, and Tune-Yards.

Chlöe emphasized her loyalty as a fan, saying,

“I’ve been a die-hard Kendrick fan from day one. I haven’t just hopped on the bandwagon now, but I’m happy a lot of people are hoppin’ on.”

Despite Lamar being in a committed relationship with fiancée Whitney Alford, with whom he shares two children, Uzi and Enoch, a professional collaboration with Chlöe remains a possibility. Lamar has previously teamed up with Chlöe’s mentor, Beyoncé, on iconic tracks like “Freedom” and “AMERICA HAS A PROBLEM.”

Chlöe’s admiration comes fresh off the release of her sophomore album, Trouble In Paradise, which arrived in August. The 16-track record features hits like “FYS” and “Boy Bye,” as well as guest appearances from Halle Bailey, Ty Dolla Sign, and Jeremih.

Fans are already speculating about the potential for a Chlöe-Kendrick collaboration in the future, and with their mutual talent, it could be a match made in musical heaven. Until then, Chlöe continues to shine as one of R&B’s brightest stars, with her unwavering passion for music and artistry on full display.
