Drake’s “Anita Max Wynn Australia Tour” Kicks Off on Kendrick Lamar’s Super Bowl Day
Drake is set to kick off his tour during Kendrick Lamar’s most significant event.
Drake is set to embark on a tour coinciding with Kendrick Lamar’s highly anticipated Super Bowl halftime performance. During a recent xQc Livestream on Sunday, he revealed that his “Anita Max Wynn Tour” will commence on February 9, 2025, aligning with Super Bowl LIX in New Orleans. The announcement of Lamar as the halftime performer has generated significant buzz, according to HotNewHipHop, particularly after Lil Wayne expressed his desire to take the stage for his hometown audience at the previous Super Bowl.
Following the announcement, Kendrick joined Nicki Minaj and Birdman in playfully mocking NFL Super Bowl ambassador Jay-Z, as Lil Wayne missed out on the opportunity to perform. Kendrick is expected to address Wayne’s comments regarding the Super Bowl during the intro of his track “wacced out murals.” After releasing three diss tracks last spring, including “Not Like Us,” Lamar has taken aim at Drake in his surprise album. Recently, Drake referenced a line from Kendrick’s “Euphoria” while engaging with popular streamer Pokimane, responding with, “Is it the braids?”
These tour announcements come on the heels of Drizzy’s remarks about Kendrick Lamar’s latest album and the evolving landscape of rap. On GNX, he stated, “I’m here, as you can see, fully intact. Mind, body, and soul. In case you are wondering, right? You need facts to take me out. Fairy tales won’t do it.” He also commented to xQc, “Rap music is weird now anyway,” and restricted The Weeknd’s music from being played during the stream.
Over the past five years, Drake has maintained a rigorous touring schedule. The NFL reportedly approached him three times to perform at the Super Bowl halftime show, but he declined each time. With eight studio albums to his name, he has established himself as the highest-streaming artist in rap. Additionally, he is preparing to release a new joint album with PartyNextDoor this fall, following his latest solo album, For All The Dogs, which debuted in 2023.
