California Attorney General Shuts Down Tory Lanez’s Claims of Missing Gun in Megan Thee Stallion Case

The saga continues…

The California Attorney General’s office has dismissed Tory Lanez’s allegations that the gun used in the 2020 shooting of Megan Thee Stallion has gone missing, directly contradicting claims made by the rapper’s legal team.

Lanez’s attorneys at Unite the People recently filed a petition claiming that the firearm was unaccounted for, preventing further forensic and DNA testing. However, court documents obtained by Complex reveal that the Attorney General’s office found no evidence supporting these allegations.

“Petitioner has not satisfied his burden of providing reasonably available documentary evidence that would support his factual assertions,” the filing states. “His unsupported claim that the LAPD has misplaced or lost evidence is demonstrably false.”

The filing includes a declaration from LAPD Officer Martin Preciado confirming that the firearm, its magazine, bullet casings, and fragments remain in the department’s custody.

The Attorney General further argued that additional DNA testing would not alter the outcome of the case. “Additional testing in this case could not possibly establish a claim of actual innocence,” the response emphasized.

This filing follows Lanez’s recent legal efforts to overturn his conviction and 10-year prison sentence for charges stemming from the Hollywood Hills shooting. In October, Megan Thee Stallion’s lawyer, Alex Spiro, refuted rumors of missing evidence and reaffirmed that the firearm and its ammunition remain accessible for testing.

Lanez’s appeals continue, but the latest response from the Attorney General casts doubt on his claims of mishandled evidence.
