The feud between Hot 97 radio personality Funk Flex and former Bad Boy Records artist Shyne has reached new heights. On Saturday night (November 16), Funk Flex responded to Shyne’s recent remarks with a fiery rant during his radio show, accusing the Belizean politician of fabricating elements of his story in the Hulu documentary The Honorable Shyne.

Funk Flex Fires Back

Addressing Shyne’s claims, Funk Flex said,

“You should get a bag of money for a bag of lies. I’m OK with that, bro. I’ma tell you, Shyne – punk. That’s what you are. You’re a punk.”

The tension escalated after Shyne appeared in a TMZ interview earlier this week, reminding viewers that Funk Flex had a history of making controversial comments about rap legends like JAY-Z and 2Pac.

Origins of the Feud

The beef reignited in October following the release of The Honorable Shyne trailer. In the documentary, Shyne claims he was the scapegoat in the infamous 1999 New York City club shooting involving Diddy, which resulted in Shyne serving almost nine years in prison. While Diddy was acquitted, Shyne’s version of events has drawn criticism from Funk Flex, who questioned his narrative.

Flex particularly took issue with Shyne’s appearance at a ceremony honoring Diddy with New York’s Key to the City.

“If you hated Puff so much when he got the key to the city, you were in the trailer, sucker,” Flex said.

Shyne Defends Himself

Shyne, now a politician and diplomat in Belize, defended his claims when approached by paparazzi.

“He [Funk Flex] said terrible things about JAY-Z, he said terrible things about 2Pac, so I’m not surprised,” Shyne said. He added, “Listen to The Lost Tapes. We all can’t be lying. What did Nas say? He didn’t like how Diddy did Shyne with different lawyers.”

Shyne also turned the feud into an opportunity to promote his Hulu documentary, thanking Funk Flex for inadvertently bringing more attention to it.

The Honorable Shyne

Shyne’s documentary, The Honorable Shyne, chronicles his journey from rising hip-hop star to his time in prison and eventual transformation into a respected political figure in Belize. It’s currently available for streaming, offering a closer look at Shyne’s version of events and his life after the Bad Boy Records era.
