A$AP mentions that he would ask God “why me?… I like girls,” as he describes the battle he went through.
In 2005 A$AP launched a brand called “Devoni Clothing” inspired by his late father. He designed high-end belts which was worn by Chris Brown, Swizz Beat, and Diggy Simmons. Allowing FERG to touch on the idea of toxic masculinity stating how his peers called him gay for designing things. A$AP taps into hyper sexuality of abused kids when he mentions that due to his environment he had to have various women.
In his interview with The Breakfast Club FERG adds a new layer to the story. He states ” I was a young kind and everybody’s around and everything like that.” The Harlem native highlights that although the interaction was fast it troubled him in his youth. He reveals that he told his mother about the encounter at the 2009 premiere of Precious. Ironically, that film touches on the topic of child molestation.
A$AP FERG explains he went public about the matter because he believes his transparency will help to lessen the stigma around sexual assault on males. In return causing others to confront the matter head-on.
