Memphis rapper GloRilla has made waves with her decision to remain celibate until marriage, announcing her commitment on X (formerly Twitter) on November 10. “Single & celibate until God send me my husband,” she shared, clarifying that she’s not seeing or dating anyone until her marital status changes.

This vow follows her Halloween joke where she wore a fake baby bump, playfully sparking rumors by claiming actor Abraham “Da’Vinchi” Juste was the father. However, public appearances without a bump soon debunked the claim.

Celibacy isn’t a new concept for GloRilla. Earlier in 2024, she attempted a 90-day celibacy journey, though she humorously admitted struggling to keep up just nine days in, joking on social media about her “blurry vision.”

The trend of celibacy has gained traction among celebrities. This past summer, Omarion, former B2K member, shared his own experience on Know Thyself podcast. “I took it on as a challenge,” he explained, motivated by personal growth and deeper understanding. The singer viewed celibacy as an opportunity to “step out of this world,” fostering a closer connection to his faith, and ultimately helping him focus on his music and integrity.

Omarion also discussed the reactions he faced, saying, “People were like, ‘You just put out a number one album, why not indulge?’” He emphasized that for him, life meant more than fame and indulgence, and controlling his desires gave him a sense of empowerment.

GloRilla and Omarion’s decisions reflect a growing trend among artists exploring celibacy to deepen their personal journeys. As this shift gains momentum, it signals a broader move toward self-reflection and intentionality in the spotlight.
