Tekashi 6ix9ine Arrested for Probation Violation and Agrees to Serve Jail Time
Looks like Tekashi 6ix9ine has landed himself in more trouble.
Controversial rapper Tekashi 6ix9ine (real name Daniel Hernandez) was arrested in October for violating his probation, stemming from his 2019 racketeering conviction. Federal prosecutors announced that 6ix9ine accepted a plea deal and agreed to serve a month in jail, with sentencing set for November 12 by Judge Paul Engelmayer.
As part of the plea deal, prosecutors recommended additional penalties, including three months of home confinement, a strict curfew with electronic monitoring, and a one-year extension of probation. The rapper initially pleaded not guilty to three technical violations related to his supervised release but ultimately accepted the deal.
The probation officer overseeing his case accused 6ix9ine of failing a drug test and traveling without proper authorization, putting him in violation of the terms of his probation, which was set to end soon. This setback follows his earlier plea agreement in 2019, where he was sentenced to two years in prison and five years of supervised release after cooperating with authorities by testifying against members of the Nine Trey Gangsta Bloods. His cooperation reduced what could have been a 40-year sentence.
Adding to his legal woes, 6ix9ine’s ex-girlfriend, Yailin La Más Viral, filed a lawsuit against him in September, accusing him of abuse and financial theft. She claims that he misappropriated large sums of her earnings and shared explicit images of her on social media post-breakup. Her lawsuit alleges,
“Over a period of more than a year, [6ix9ine] physically, sexually, and emotionally abused [Yailin]… using misappropriated funds for luxury expenses.”
Earlier in January, 6ix9ine also faced domestic violence charges in the Dominican Republic for allegedly assaulting Yailin. The recent arrest and ongoing legal battles underscore the complex and troubled path the artist continues to navigate.
