Sexyy Red Shows Support for Kamala Harris in Upcoming Election, Distancing Herself from Trump
Sexyy Red voted for Kamala Harris despite previous support for Donald Trump. #Sexyy4President
Sexyy Red has already cast her vote in the upcoming presidential election, publicly showing her support for Vice President Kamala Harris. On Friday (November 1), the rapper posted a photo on X (formerly Twitter), showing off her “I Voted” stickers with a caption that expressed her support:
“I just voted!!! Don’t tell us what to do with our coochies!! #Kamala4President.”
Reproductive rights are central to Harris’s campaign, aligning with Red’s message.
This endorsement comes after months of controversies surrounding past statements about former President Donald Trump. Last October, the “SkeeYee” artist sparked reactions on social media when she voiced support for Trump, citing his actions on prison reform and the distribution of COVID-19 stimulus checks. “The hood loves Trump,” she said in an interview with comedian Theo Von, mentioning how stimulus checks helped many financially during his term.
Her comments were met with backlash, with many fans disapproving of her support for a figure accused of racism and misogyny. Public figures like Hot 97’s Ebro Darden criticized her statements, arguing that the public didn’t fully understand the origins and implications of those stimulus checks.
By June 2024, Sexyy Red had begun to step back from openly endorsing any candidate. She humorously declared herself a presidential candidate on social media, posting, “It’s Sexyy Red 4 President… I’m not endorsing anybody, period.” The playful post followed a performance at the 2024 Roots Picnic where she donned a MAGA-inspired hat that read “Make America Sexyy Again,” sparking further mixed reactions.
Now fully endorsing Kamala Harris, the St. Louis rapper joins a growing list of high-profile artists publicly supporting the Vice President, marking a new chapter in her engagement with politics ahead of the critical 2024 election.
