Young Thug’s RICO Trial Sees Two More YSL Co-Defendants Accept Plea Deals
Young Thug’s long-standing RICO trial involving YSL has taken a new turn as two additional co-defendants accepted plea deals this week, leaving only three defendants, including Young Thug, still facing trial.
On October 30, Rodalius Ryan, known as Lil Rod, and Marquavius Huey, also called Qua, joined a growing list of defendants opting for plea agreements. According to FOX 5 Atlanta, Ryan pleaded guilty to one RICO count. Although he received a 10-year sentence, his time will be considered served as he continues to appeal a separate murder conviction.
Huey’s plea arrangement saw him sentenced to 25 years in prison, though he will only serve nine after originally facing the possibility of three life sentences. Their decisions reflect a pattern, with many YSL affiliates aiming to minimize their jail time by accepting similar deals.
Earlier this week, YSL defendant Quamarvious Nichols accepted a plea that led to most of his charges being dropped in exchange for pleading guilty to conspiracy to violate the RICO Act. Nichols received a 20-year sentence, with seven years to be served in prison and the rest on probation. Having already spent some time behind bars, he will likely only serve around five more years.
The trial has seen its fair share of controversy, including a peculiar incident where a defense attorney flashed a “Slatt” sign, commonly associated with Young Thug’s YSL, as a show of support to his fellow defendants. Meanwhile, Young Thug continues to pursue a mistrial due to issues with state witness Wunnie Lee.
As the RICO trial progresses, Young Thug remains steadfast, navigating his way through legal challenges as his co-defendants opt for deals in hopes of reducing their sentences.
