Ari Lennox Slams Dreamville for Career Neglect, Demands Contract Release
Ari Lennox, a foundational artist on Dreamville Records, publicly expressed frustration with her label this week, calling out Dreamville and parent label Interscope for mishandling her career. Known for her unique sound and standout chemistry with artists like J. Cole and JID, Lennox has been a constant on Dreamville’s collaborative albums since the beginning. Yet, despite her loyalty, Lennox now claims the label has failed to support and promote her effectively.
In an Instagram post shared Tuesday night, Lennox alleged that Dreamville and Interscope have been “playing with her all month” and failing to recognize her strengths as an artist.
“I’m tired of people treating me like they’re sorry for me and like I’m the face of mental health,” Lennox stated. “What I don’t like is being signed, lied to, and manipulated.”
She went on to criticize both labels for what she described as a lack of understanding of how to market her music or protect her artistry.
In the post’s caption, Lennox voiced her growing discontent by stating, “I want out of my contract.” She also tagged both Dreamville and Interscope, making her grievances publicly known and adding to the tension surrounding her future with the label.
Though she didn’t detail every aspect of her experience, Lennox hinted at deeper issues within Dreamville, calling the music industry a “constant letdown.” Alongside her post, she also shared a 20-minute Instagram Live session where she candidly spoke about her frustrations. Lennox explained that, despite her willingness to overlook previous setbacks, delays in releasing new music drove her to address the matter directly with fans. “I feel like I’ve been played,” she repeatedly stated, expressing disappointment over the label’s unfulfilled promises.
The public nature of Lennox’s statements raises questions about her future with Dreamville. Her demand for a contract release signifies that she may be ready to step away from the label if her concerns aren’t addressed. Lennox’s openness has also prompted fans to rally around her, with many voicing support for her decision to stand up for herself.
Dreamville has yet to respond, leaving Lennox’s situation uncertain. However, one thing is clear: Ari Lennox is ready to prioritize her artistry and career — whether or not her label is on board.
