Tory Lanez claims his former lawyer had connections to Roc Nation during his trial in the Megan Thee Stallion case, raising questions about potential bias. The Canadian-born rapper is currently serving a 10-year prison sentence for his role in the 2020 Megan Thee Stallion shooting. The rapper filed an official compliant with the California State Bar that his lawyer, Shawn Holley, has connections to the company that manages Megan. Lanez claims he hired Holley prior to finding out about her connection to Roc Nation.

Tory Lanez points to the Hulu show Reasonable Doubt which is lovely based on Holley’s life. Lanez also points out that Jay-Z has an album with the same name. It’s noted that Megan’s and Beyoncé “Savage (Remix)” was featured in one of the episodes. Holley’s daughter, Nyanna, is also said to have been a backup singer for Beyoncé in the past. Additionally, Tory Lanez claims that Roc Nation CEO, Desiree Perez, assisted in Megan in her statement to officers.

Tory Lanez goes on to mention Holley’s conduct throughout the case. Accusing her of neglecting his defense strategy and instructing a DNA expert against running tests on the gun used. The ‘Say It’ rapper claims he never touched the gun that night, DNA would have proven his innocence. Lanez believes Holley acted in Roc Nation’s best interest by suggesting a plea deal, which Lanez ultimately declined. Holley walked away from the case five days before it closed after Lanez claims he’s already paid her nearly $300,000.

Lanez is now pushing for Holley to face disciplinary action for “serious ethics breaches” along with a refund for her services. However, it was revealed in a November 2023 letter sent to the California State Bar on behalf of Holley that she has “no relationship with Roc Nation”. The letter highlighted that Ms. Holley has never represented Roc Nation, nor have they been a client of the law firm. Unite the People, Lanez’s current legal team, claims there have been no previous filings regarding Holley that were submitted to the bar.

In a statement to TMZ, Holley denied any wrongdoing citing,

“Mr. Peterson brought these meritless claims to the State Bar over a year ago, and they were summarily rejected and the matter was promptly closed.” She goes on to say “His actions to publicize this failed effort are likely tied to the appeal of his criminal conviction, for which I wish him well.”
