Tiwa Savage Releases New Video for Single “Forgiveness”
Grammy-nominated Nigerian singer-songwriter Tiwa Savage releases the video for “Forgiveness” a track from her new album Empire. Directed by Des Gray the video was shot in Joshua Tree National Park in California. The video features ‘Insecure’ and ‘Vampire Diaries’ actor Kendrick Sampson.
“Forgiveness” serves as the first single from Tiwa’s junior full length album set to release in 2025. Savage who has not put out an album since Celia in 2020 spent the last four years honing her craft. She has collaborated with artist like Beyoncé, Brandy, Nas, and Diane Warren. Savage also starred in and executive produced the feature film “Water and Garri”. The single was co-written by Muni Long and Theron Thomas, continuing Tiwa’s exploration of new sounds.
“Forgiveness” features a reggae beat with underlying RnB sounds blended with Savage’s multi pitched singing. Joshua Tree serves as a symbolism of resilience, beauty and triumph contributing to the harshness of the lyrics. The video starts off with Savage and Sampson voicing their thoughts on the relationship. As the video progress we see the couple go through moments of arguing to moments of love and affection.
