Clipse Signs With Def Jam to Release New Album ‘Let God Sort Em Out’
Rap legends and VA duo The Clipse land new record deal with Def Jam ahead of their forthcoming new album.
Legendary Virginia rap duo Clipse have signed with Def Jam Records to release their highly-anticipated album Let God Sort Em Out, marking their first studio album in 15 years. Although Pusha T is already a Def Jam solo artist, Clipse’s previous projects were released under labels like Jive and Arista, making this partnership with Def Jam a fresh start for the group’s reunion.
The signing was announced on Monday, October 28, when Malice posted a photo from Def Jam’s offices, standing in front of a screen that read, “Def Jam welcomes Clipse.” He captioned the image simply, “A picture’s worth…,” fueling excitement among fans.
In recent interviews, Clipse described the forthcoming album as a high-caliber, curated project.
“This music is curated… a high taste-level piece of work,” Pusha T told Vulture. “You can only have that level of taste when you have the fundamentals down to a science. It’s been definitely missing.”
Malice echoed this sentiment, emphasizing the authenticity and growth the album represents.
“It’s what rap should look like if you’re real about your craft… It just seems like in other genres, they have the luxury of growing. For some reason, we act like we’re not supposed to evolve.”
Fans can also expect an all-star feature from Nas, who Clipse confirmed as a guest on the album, with production entirely helmed by longtime collaborator Pharrell. Nas’ verse, long sought after by Pusha, was described by Rolling Stone as “sharp” and a key piece in completing the project.
With Def Jam’s backing, Clipse’s Let God Sort Em Out promises to deliver both the authenticity and evolution fans have been waiting for.
