Coi Leray is making headlines as she publicly confronts her frustrations with her former record label, 1801 Records. On October 22, Leray took to Instagram to share her experiences, specifically targeting Billy Jones, one of the label’s heads, shedding light on the challenges she faced during her early career.

In her lengthy post, Leray expressed her dissatisfaction with the way her career has been managed.

“I will be going live today to explain how this guy has been trying to take over my life and ruin my career,”

she stated, clearly stating her grievances against Jones. She highlighted that despite signing with 1801 Records at a young age, she felt trapped in a situation that was detrimental to her professional growth.

“5 years ago I signed the worst production deal with 1801 when I was 21 because they finessed me and had me use their lawyer that didn’t read me the correct terms.”

Her emotional appeal resonated with many, as she described her ongoing struggle with the label and emphasized her desire to reclaim control over her music career.

Leray further criticized Jones’s handling of her situation, noting that Karriem “K-Mack” Mack, the other head of the label, had been more understanding and was willing to part ways amicably. “KMACK DOESN’T EVEN WORK WITH 1801 anymore and wants nothing to do with Billy J,” she stated, pointing out that the main roadblock to her freedom was Jones.

The post sparked a supportive response from fellow artist Journee, who shared her similar experiences with 1801 Records. “Girllll I went thru the SAME THING with them,” Journee commented, validating Leray’s claims and expressing solidarity in their shared struggles.

Shortly after her initial post, Leray expressed gratitude for the support she received from fans and industry peers. In her Instagram Story, she acknowledged the impact of her revelations, saying, “Shout out to the ones who spoke up!!! You guys don’t understand how helpful this was for me… Shout out to all the music executives who reached out!!”

In a seemingly defensive move, Jones responded via his own Instagram Story, sharing a cryptic quote: “Be wise enough to listen to what a person is not saying,” prompting further speculation about the ongoing tensions between him and Leray.

This public confrontation sheds light on the often murky waters of record label agreements and the struggles many artists face when navigating their careers. Coi Leray’s candidness not only highlights her determination to reclaim her narrative but also serves as a reminder of the importance of artist empowerment in the music industry.

As Leray continues to push for her independence, fans are eager to see how her journey unfolds. In related news, the artist recently reignited her relationship with Trippie Redd, adding another layer to her evolving story in the entertainment world.
