Shyne, the rapper-turned-politician, is opening up about the night that forever changed his life. In the trailer for his upcoming documentary The Honorable Shyne, which is set to air on Hulu on November 18, he discusses the infamous 1999 club shooting that led to his arrest and 10-year prison sentence. According to Shyne, he was “set up to be the fall guy” in the entire incident, which also involved music mogul Diddy.

Shyne’s fallout with Diddy has been well-documented over the years, but in a recent interview following Diddy’s legal troubles, Shyne expressed his lingering frustration.

“I was defending him, and he turned around and called witnesses to testify against me,” Shyne said. “He pretty much sent me to prison.”

Although Shyne has publicly forgiven Diddy, he made it clear that the consequences of that night are still part of his narrative.

“Yes, I forgive and have moved on, but let’s not pretend I was in Miami for Thanksgiving and Christmas. This is someone who destroyed my life.”

The documentary promises to delve deep into Shyne’s journey from the tragic events of 1999 to his current role in Belizean politics. Fans can watch the trailer on Hulu ahead of its release.
