Tyler, The Creator is hinting at the start of a new music era with the release of a teaser titled “ST. CHROMA” on Wednesday (Oct. 16). The visually striking monochromatic clip shows the rapper leading a group of men into a container labeled “CHROMAKOPIA.” Toward the end, the video shifts to color as the container explodes with everyone still inside. The word “CHROMAKOPIA” might hint at the title of Tyler’s upcoming eighth studio album, as suggested by the YouTube description that simply reads: “8.”

In the teaser’s verse, Tyler raps, “Calm down, sit still, that’s one mill’ for each will / Top ten, big deal, how the f**k he do that?” as he reflects on his success. The outro, voiced by Daniel Caesar, teases more music to come, with Caesar taking to Instagram to express his excitement: “Did some vocals on this. Very proud. Can’t wait for you all to hear the whole record.”

Tyler’s last album, CALL ME IF YOU GET LOST (2021), won Best Rap Album at the 64th GRAMMY Awards. The project featured tracks like “WUSYANAME” with YoungBoy Never Broke Again and Ty Dolla Sign, and “SWEET / I THOUGHT YOU WANTED TO DANCE” with Brent Faiyaz. Tyler has previously described the album as his most personal, noting that every line reflected his real life.

Aside from music, Tyler has been busy in the fashion world, collaborating with Converse on the Darryl Chuck 70, which launched in 10 colorways in September. Fans are eagerly awaiting more details about “CHROMAKOPIA” and what Tyler has in store next.
