Soulja Boy is requesting that the ex-girlfriend suing him for assault undergo a mental health evaluation as part of their ongoing legal battle. The 34-year-old rapper, whose real name is DeAndre Cortez Way, is responding to claims from his former girlfriend, who is suing under the pseudonym “Jane Doe,” and alleges she endured severe psychological trauma during their relationship.

According to court documents obtained by In Touch, Soulja Boy’s legal team argued that a mental exam is necessary to assess the validity of the psychological damage Doe claims to have suffered. The motion highlights her testimony about anxiety and emotional distress allegedly caused by their relationship.

The filing states:

“[Doe] testified that she had undergone multiple abortions but could not recall how many or where they occurred. [Doe] also stated that she has been suffering with anxiety that developed throughout her relationship with [Soulja], and the defense needs to conduct an Independent Mental Examination of [Doe] in order to properly evaluate her mental health and assess the claims being made.”

The examination is particularly relevant, the motion continues, because Doe has mentioned psychological issues stemming from her time with Soulja Boy. The rapper’s legal team argues that the evaluation will help determine the extent of her emotional distress and its impact on her life.

Jane Doe first filed the lawsuit in 2021, accusing Soulja Boy of physical abuse during their years-long relationship, which she alleges led to multiple abortions. She is seeking $10 million in damages.

Soulja Boy has denied all the allegations. He was previously convicted in a separate case involving the assault and kidnapping of another ex-girlfriend.

The outcome of the case remains to be seen, as both parties prepare for the legal proceedings ahead.
