Megan Thee Stallion is set to give fans an intimate look into her personal life in her upcoming documentary, Megan Thee Stallion: In Her Words. The first official trailer, released on October 16, highlights the highs and lows of the Grammy Award-winning rapper’s journey, including the loss of her mother and the aftermath of her 2020 shooting by Tory Lanez.

In the trailer, Megan opens up about canceling her shows, revealing that she wasn’t enjoying the fame and needed time to heal. “I’ve decided that I am going to cancel all of my shows. I’m not having fun right now, and I don’t want to do it,” Megan says. “I feel like, how can I be Megan Thee Stallion, and I’m not having fun?”

The Traumazine rapper credits her late mother, Holly Thomas, for inspiring her musical journey. “My mama was like a gangsta rapper,” she recalls. “When I get older, I really want to be like her. That’s when I really started creating Megan Thee Stallion.” Thomas passed away from brain cancer in 2019, leaving Megan devastated. She also lost her father when she was just 15. In honor of both parents, she launched the Pete and Thomas Foundation to support underserved communities in Houston.

The documentary also dives into Megan’s emotional experience following her shooting by Tory Lanez, who was sentenced to 10 years in prison. “The shooting. The betrayal. I was definitely getting a little too engulfed in social media. Everybody hates me. I had a real breakdown,” Megan explains in the trailer.
