Diddy Demands Government Reveal Names of Alleged Victims in Sex Trafficking Case
Diddy is pushing back against the government in his ongoing sex trafficking and racketeering case, demanding that authorities disclose the identities of his alleged victims in order for him to adequately prepare his defense. In a legal filing submitted on Tuesday (October 15), the Bad Boy Records mogul’s attorneys requested that Judge Arun Subramanian compel prosecutors to reveal the names of the individuals referenced in the indictment. Diddy’s legal team argues that without knowing the full scope of the allegations, he cannot properly defend himself in the upcoming trial.
The motion claims that aside from one victim—who is believed to be his ex-girlfriend, Cassie, the first person to publicly accuse him of sex trafficking and sexual assault in a 2023 lawsuit—Diddy has no way of knowing which other victims are involved. Cassie, who settled the lawsuit for a reported $30 million last year, initially filed the accusations in November 2022, although Diddy has denied any wrongdoing.
His attorneys further argue that the government’s case is unclear and puts Diddy at a legal disadvantage, stating, “The government is forcing him, unfairly, to play a guessing game.” They also believe that the upcoming discovery process will reveal evidence that many of the sexual activities involved were consensual, which they claim will make it harder to determine which sexual encounters are being classified as coerced.
The filing also expresses concern that the government’s concealment of the victims’ identities is allowing public speculation to run rampant, affecting Diddy’s ability to respond to the civil lawsuits against him. His legal team points out that the attorneys representing the accusers are not bound by the same legal restrictions, which gives them more leeway to make public statements without challenge.
Diddy, who faces charges of racketeering conspiracy, sex trafficking by force, fraud, or coercion, and transportation to engage in prostitution, has pleaded not guilty to all counts. A trial has been set for May 5, 2025, though this date could be delayed as prosecutors explore the possibility of adding additional charges or defendants.
Currently being held at the Metropolitan Detention Center in Brooklyn after two failed bail attempts, Diddy’s legal team is seeking bond once again as they prepare for the long legal battle ahead.
