Lucky Daye Calls for More Collaboration Among Male Artists in the Music Industry
ucky Daye recently expressed disappointment over the lack of support among male artists in the music industry. Could more collaboration between male R&B artists help strengthen the genre?
R&B sensation Lucky Daye, known for his soulful tracks and songwriting prowess, sparked conversation on Sunday morning (Oct. 13) after sharing his thoughts on the lack of support among male artists in the music industry.
In a tweet, Daye wrote,
“I hate that female [artists] support each other way more than males. I’m fake sad. But I [want to] work [with] more guys who don’t get ego hurt. Think big!”
Fans quickly responded with suggestions of artists they’d love to see him collaborate with, including Bryson Tiller and Daniel Caesar.

This comment from the “Roll Some Mo” singer was surprising, given his history of collaboration, especially with women. His 2021 project Table For Two featured only female artists, including Mahalia, Ari Lennox, Queen Naija, and Joyce Wrice, showcasing his support for women in the industry.
Fans encouraged Daye to seek out “like-minded” collaborators, while also noting that competition often arises when artists are not on the same level. Daye is seen as a leading figure in modern R&B, with peers like Leon Thomas, Bryson Tiller, Chris Brown, and rising stars like Isaiah Falls and Jordan Ward helping shape the genre.
While Daye’s call for more collaboration among male artists is valid, it’s worth noting that female artists have also faced their share of conflicts this year, such as the feuds between Megan Thee Stallion and Nicki Minaj, or Cardi B and BIA.
As Daye continues to push for unity, his fans remain excited to see what future collaborations he may bring to the table.
