R. Kelly’s daughter, Buku Abi, has publicly addressed the alleged abuse she endured as a child at the hands of her father for the first time. In TVEI Streaming Network’s new documentary, Karma: A Daughter’s Journey, Abi, 26, opens up about the trauma she experienced, revealing that she first reported the abuse to her mother, Andrea, in 2009 when she was just 10 years old.

In the emotional first episode, Abi recalls,

“He was my everything. For a long time, I didn’t want to believe that it happened.”

The episode, which is now streaming, delves into the emotional toll the experience had on her, as she explains how the incident forever changed her life. She added,

“After I told my mom, I didn’t go over there anymore; my brother and sister didn’t either. Even up until now, I struggle with it.”

Abi goes into more detail in the second episode, describing the abuse she faced at age 8 or 9. Despite telling her mother and filing a police complaint, she explains that it was too late to prosecute her father. “I felt like I said something for nothing,” she says.

Kelly’s attorney, Jennifer Bonjean, denies the allegations, citing previous investigations that were deemed unfounded. However, the documentary gives Abi and her family the platform to share their story as they attempt to move forward with their lives.

R. Kelly’s Karma: A Daughter’s Journey is streaming now on TVEI Streaming Network.
