Tyler, The Creator Takes a Bold Swipe at Elon Musk During Austin City Limits Performance

Tyler, The Creator recently took a public jab at Elon Musk during his set at the Austin City Limits Music Festival. While performing his track “911,” Tyler altered the lyrics to say, “Fuck Elon,” moving away from his previous praise for the Tesla CEO. The unexpected diss came as a surprise, given Tyler’s earlier support for Musk on X (formerly Twitter), where in 2016, he praised the tech mogul for “changing the world” and challenging oil industry tycoons.

Tyler’s change in tone reflects a growing shift in sentiment towards Musk, who has recently been involved in business ventures with other hip-hop figures. Ice Cube’s BIG3 basketball league now streams on X, and the rapper faced criticism for partnering with Musk’s platform. However, Cube dismissed the backlash, stating he remains independent of any alliances.

Similarly, Swizz Beatz and Timbaland inked a deal with X to host their Verzuz battle series on the platform, praising Musk’s innovation. Swizz expressed excitement about the collaboration, noting it would help expand Verzuz’s reach globally.

Tyler’s diss may reflect the evolving relationship between the hip-hop community and Musk, as more artists engage with the platform while some, like Tyler, begin to voice dissent.
