Megan Thee Stallion has successfully transferred her harassment lawsuit from California to New York, but Roc Nation’s efforts to dismiss itself from the case have been denied. The Houston rapper and Roc Nation are facing a lawsuit from her former photographer, Emilio Garcia, who alleges workplace harassment, creation of a hostile work environment, and misclassification of employment, among other claims.

In a recent ruling by U.S. District Judge Hernán D. Vera, Megan’s request to move the case to the Southern District of New York was granted. However, the judge ruled that Roc Nation could not be dismissed as a defendant at this stage of the proceedings. The court determined it was reasonable to consider Roc Nation as a potential joint employer, given its ability to influence Garcia’s employability.

Garcia originally filed the lawsuit in Los Angeles, where independent contractors can only work a limited number of hours before being classified as employees. In his lawsuit, filed in April, he detailed disturbing claims, including an incident where he allegedly witnessed Megan engaging in sexual activity with another woman in a moving car while in Ibiza. He described feeling “embarrassed, mortified, and offended” by the experience, claiming that Megan later warned him to “never discuss what you saw” and subjected him to fat-shaming remarks like “Fat bitch” and “You don’t need to be eating.”

Additionally, Garcia accused Megan of undercompensating him for his work. After expressing his concerns, he claims he was informed by Roc Nation that his services were no longer needed, leading him to file this lawsuit.

Garcia is seeking punitive damages, legal fees, unpaid wages with interest, unpaid overtime, and other employee benefits. In response to the allegations, Megan’s attorney has firmly denied the claims, stating,

“This is an employment claim for money — with no sexual harassment claim filed and with salacious accusations to attempt to embarrass her. We will deal with this in court.”

As the case progresses in New York, fans and industry insiders will be closely watching the developments surrounding this high-profile legal battle.
