Chrisean Rock is pushing back against a lawsuit filed by Tamar Braxton’s backup singer, James Wright Chanel, who accused her of assault. According to legal documents obtained by In Touch Weekly on October 7, Rock denied all allegations, asserting that any injuries or suffering Wright Chanel experienced were the result of his own actions.

Wright Chanel initially claimed that Rock attacked him backstage during Tamar’s Los Angeles concert in November 2023, leaving him with two broken teeth and facial injuries. He followed up a criminal case with a lawsuit in February 2024, seeking damages for the physical and emotional distress caused by the incident.

Chanel’s attorney claimed Rock used rings “equivalent to brass knuckles” during the altercation. The fight reportedly started when Rock became upset after being denied the chance to perform at the show. Additionally, the lawsuit alleges she directed a homophobic slur at Wright Chanel.

Chrisean Rock, however, has denied the allegations, asserting her innocence and noting there is no footage of the alleged attack. One of her friends supported her claims, stating on Instagram Live that Rock was invited to perform and that there was no malicious intent.
