Rich Homie Quan’s death has been officially classified as an accident, as confirmed by the Fulton County Medical Examiner.
A report from the Medical Examiner, obtained by TMZ on October 1, indicates that the rapper, known for his hit “Type Of Way,” died due to a lethal combination of fentanyl, alprazolam, codeine, and promethazine.
Born Dequantes Devontay Lamar, RHQ showed no signs of trauma at the time of his passing. He died at the age of 33 on September 5, with an autopsy conducted the following day. His funeral service took place in Atlanta on September 17.
According to Billboard, the celebration of life featured heartfelt tributes from Quan’s family and friends, who shared touching memories of the late artist.
“I appreciate him for taking me from 285 Old National to the Eastside, to endless flights. From endless oatmeal and cereal to continental breakfast and continental breakfast and personal chefs,” Andre Munford, Quan’s brother, said. “We went from apartments — sometimes no hot water — we didn’t stop. I love you, man.”
According to a 911 call obtained by TMZ, Quan’s girlfriend found him unresponsive on the couch and covered him with a blanket on the morning of September 5. After returning from dropping her children off at school, she noticed he had not moved and could not detect a heartbeat. Upon turning him over, she observed foaming at the mouth and immediately contacted emergency services. He was pronounced dead shortly thereafter.
As the hip-hop community continues to grieve, Rich Homie Quan’s family released a posthumous track titled “Song Cry,” accompanied by an emotional music video on September 30.
