On Tuesday, September 24, Latto came to the aid of a former Waffle House employee who was fired for participating in the rapper’s “Brokey” challenge while at work.

Yadira Ramirez, who lost her job due to her involvement in the challenge, was awarded a $10,000 cash prize.

Ramirez posted a TikTok on September 20, showcasing herself and her coworkers doing gestures to match the song’s pre-chorus: “When a real one hold you down, bae, you supposed to drown / You ain’t never f**k with no boss b**ch, I turned you out / You won’t catch me in no Shark boots, y’all burnt ’em out / B**ches gotta wait till they birthday to go out of town.”

The next day, she revealed that Waffle House terminated her after the clip went viral, amassing over 20 million views. “Our company policy doesn’t state that we can’t have our phones; it just says not to bash or speak negatively about the company, which we didn’t,” Ramirez explained in another TikTok. “I was the only one fired. From what I’ve been told, no one else got written up.”

She added, “I’m good. I’m not sad. I was just a bit down at the moment. I understand that life is about growth and blessings, and I’m looking forward to my new journey.” Fortunately, a new opportunity arose sooner than anticipated when Latto met with Ramirez on Tuesday.

In a TikTok video, Ramirez was seen dancing to a “part two” of the challenge when Latto stepped in front of the camera and presented her with the promised $10,000 prize.

“Brokey” is featured on Latto’s latest album, Sugar Honey Iced Tea, which includes 22 tracks with songs like “Big Mama,” “Blick Sum,” and “Sunday Service,” alongside collaborations with Coco Jones, Young Nudy, Megan Thee Stallion, and Teezo Touchdown.
