Pusha T Declares Kendrick Lamar as ‘The Lyric King’ Ahead of Super Bowl 2025
The Virginia rapper was inquired about Kendrick Lamar’s influence on the rap industry.
At a panel during Revolt World in Atlanta, Virginia rapper Pusha T shared his admiration for Kendrick Lamar when asked about Lamar’s influence on the rap scene. “It’s amazing,” he remarked.
He continued, “Even people who don’t typically pay attention to lyrics are quoting his freestyles, battles, and songs. It’s fantastic for lyric-driven hip-hop and rewarding to witness.”
“I’m sure people have told him throughout his career, ‘Oh, my God. You rap so well, but you should make songs like this or that.’ It’s incredible to see him stay true to himself as the lyric king.”
This isn’t the first time Pusha T has lauded Lamar’s lyricism. In a June interview with Vulture, he and his brother, Clipse bandmate No Malice, referred to Lamar’s diss track “Euphoria” aimed at Drake as “an incredible display of battle raps” and “a master class” after discussing the line,
“F— all that pushin’ P, let me see you push a T.”
Our very own, Tracey Khan was at Revolt World this past weekend in Atlanta when she caught up with the rap legend and questioned if the upcoming Superbowl made the right decision by choosing K.Dot as the headliner for 2025, and his response was, “1000%”
More recently, when Lamar was announced as the headliner for the Super Bowl halftime show, he took a subtle jab at Drake, saying, “You know there’s only one opportunity to win a championship. No round twos,” referencing Drake’s hints at another confrontation on social media. Pusha T agreed, sharing the quote on his Instagram Story with the caption, “This is true…”
Pusha T and Kendrick Lamar have collaborated only once before, on the track “Nosetalgia” in 2013.
