Kodak Black seems to have distanced himself from Donald Trump following the presidential candidate’s controversial remarks about Haitian immigrants allegedly eating pets in Springfield, Ohio.

On Monday, September 23, footage surfaced of Kodak—who has Haitian roots—criticizing Trump’s unfounded statements made during his recent debate with Kamala Harris.

“If I wanted to eat a cat, that’s what I’m gonna eat,” he stated. “I’m Haitian, homie. I was Haitian before it was cool to be Haitian. I’m not prejudiced or biased, and I’m definitely not racist. I love Israel and all countries. I love everybody because I’m a warrior of Christ.”

Kodak continued,

“Whatever someone’s appetite is, that’s their business. Y’all ain’t never seen someone eat a cat before. Even if someone has, so what?”

He then indicated he wouldn’t be supporting Trump in the upcoming election:

“We ain’t voting for nothing. Haitians have come too far for this. We ain’t taking no Haitian slander.”

Earlier this month, Kodak addressed Trump’s outrageous comments during a concert in Columbus, Ohio. He played a clip where Trump expressed his anger about immigrants, specifically mentioning illegal Haitian migrants.

“That’s crazy. Is that true? Man, I ain’t gonna lie, I’m a Trump supporter,” Kodak said, only to be met with boos from the audience. He added, “I’m Haitian. How y’all feel about this election? I feel like we’re screwed anyway. I’m not with that Kamala Harris stuff either. What’s going on in America?”

Kodak vowed to investigate the claims himself, saying, “I’m finna go to Springfield tomorrow. I gotta see this. I ain’t seen a Haitian eat no cat. Show me a Haitian eating a cat, then we can talk.”

Previously, Kodak had been an outspoken supporter of Trump, who commuted his three-year prison sentence in 2021 for falsifying documents to buy firearms.
