Nicki Minaj recently honored Eve after the rap icon revealed feeling insecure about co-starring in Barbershop: The Next Cut alongside her. In her upcoming memoir, Who’s That Girl?, which is set for release on September 26, Eve opened up about starting therapy to tackle her insecurities upon learning Nicki would be joining the cast. However, any initial doubts quickly faded as the two spent more time together on set.

“I’ve experienced firsthand how women can project insecurities onto others,” Eve wrote in her memoir. “It happened at the start of my career and resurfaced as I became more famous. I didn’t want to be that woman to someone else, so I prepared myself physically and mentally.”

Eve shared that the experience with Nicki was far from her expectations, as they got along well and collaborated smoothly during their scenes. She even admired Nicki’s work ethic, watching her write songs on her tour bus between takes and juggle her career, personal life, and relationships. “I thought I would resent her, but instead, I felt compassion. I remembered being that girl pressured to do it all,” Eve confessed.

After seeing Eve’s heartfelt reflections, Nicki Minaj responded with a lengthy tribute on X (formerly Twitter). She praised Eve’s openness and grace, calling it “groundbreaking” and a sign of “true peace, happiness, fulfillment, and mastery of self.” Nicki also expressed her admiration for Eve’s legacy, acknowledging how she handled the pressures of the industry with talent, charisma, and grace.

Nicki concluded her message by congratulating Eve on her memoir and achievements in hip-hop, film, and TV, adding, “P.S. you STILL look sooooo pretty.”
