Megan Thee Stallion Addresses Beef with Nicki Minaj in New Billboard Interview

Megan Thee Stallion and Nicki Minaj clashed earlier this year, but Megan still isn’t entirely sure what sparked the feud.

In an interview with Billboard published on Wednesday (September 4), Megan opened up about the tension that arose following the release of her track “Hiss,” which responded to some subliminal shots Minaj had taken in her previous songs.

“To this day, I honestly don’t know what the issue is,” Megan shared. “I can’t even say if there’s anything to reconcile because I still don’t understand what the problem is.”

Despite the conflict, Megan is unfazed, interpreting the situation as a sign of her success.

“I’m just going to keep doing my thing,” she said. “If people are taking shots at me, that means I must be doing something right. It tells me I’m seen as competition, and that makes me feel good. It’s proof that I’m on the right track because if I wasn’t, no one would be coming for me.”

In 2023, Minaj took a direct jab at Megan on the track “FTCU” from her album Pink Friday 2, with a line referencing Tory Lanez: “Stay in your Tory Lanez, bitch, I’m not Iggy.” This was a clear allusion to the 2020 incident where Lanez shot Megan, and Megan didn’t waste time firing back.

A little over a month later, Megan dropped “Hiss,” where she seemingly referenced Nicki’s husband, Kenneth Petty, and his 1995 conviction for attempted rape of a 16-year-old. “These hoes ain’t mad at Megan, these hoes mad at Megan’s Law,” she rapped, referencing the law that mandates public disclosure of registered sex offenders.

Nicki responded with the fiery track “Big Foot,” filled with provocative claims and taunts, including remarks about Megan’s late mother and the shooting incident.

Although tensions eventually simmered down, Nicki faced significant backlash, while many, including Charlamagne Tha God, believed Megan emerged victorious.

On her June album Megan, the Houston rapper took a few more jabs at her rival. As of now, Nicki has not responded.
