Usher has announced that the opening night of his “Past Present Future” tour in Atlanta has been postponed. The singer shared the news on social media Wednesday, explaining that he needs time to rest and heal, although he did not specify the nature of his ailment.

The decision to postpone seems to have been made at the last minute, as just two days prior, Usher had posted excitedly about the show on social media, and ticketing details were sent out to fans the night before the scheduled performance.

A representative for Usher confirmed to Variety that the singer is recovering from an unspecified injury but did not provide further information.

Known for his high-energy performances, as seen in his two-year “My Way: The Las Vegas Residency” and his recent Super Bowl Halftime Show, the 45-year-old entertainer emphasized that his shows are physically demanding. In his statement, Usher expressed his commitment to delivering top-notch performances, saying, “For my 30-plus year career, 100% of my blood, sweat, and tears has gone into putting on the best performance and creating a memorable experience for my fans.”

He reassured fans that the postponed show will be rescheduled soon and promised to give them a full, high-energy performance once he’s fully recovered.

“The last thing I want to do is disappoint you, the fans who have been eagerly waiting for this tour to start,” Usher wrote. “However, I wouldn’t be the entertainer that I am if I can’t physically give you my best.”

The tour was set to kick off with three shows in Atlanta before moving across North America through the end of October. As of now, the remaining Atlanta dates on Friday and Saturday are still on schedule, according to Ticketmaster.
