Quando Rondo Vows to Change After Pleading Guilty in Federal Drug Trafficking Case

Quando Rondo appears to be taking a new path forward. On Tuesday (August 13), the Georgia rapper, whose real name is Tyquian Bowman, pleaded guilty to federal drug trafficking charges as part of a plea agreement that could significantly reduce his prison time.

Initially facing up to 20 years behind bars, Rondo could now serve a maximum of five years under the new agreement. His legal troubles stem from a June 2023 arrest, where he and 18 others were charged with various offenses, including weapons possession, drug conspiracy, and gang-related activities.

Rondo’s sentencing is set for December 12, pending a pre-sentencing investigation, according to WSAV-TV. For now, the “Imperfect Flower” artist remains out on bond.

During a press conference after the hearing, Rondo expressed regret for his actions and apologized to those affected. “I truly want to apologize to the city of Savannah,” he said, adding, “I want to apologize to my family, friends, loved ones, and most importantly, my daughters.”

He continued, “Change starts at home. No matter the circumstances or how tough things get, God can pull you through anything. So with that, I’m walking by faith, not by sight. Nothing can break me—it’s only going to make me stronger.” Rondo also mentioned that he plans to continue making music, whether he’s behind bars or free.

Rondo initially faced 14 charges, including possession of a firearm in connection with drug trafficking and conspiracy to distribute various drugs, such as methamphetamine and marijuana. He had pleaded not guilty but accepted a plea deal in June for lesser charges, focusing on conspiracy to possess with intent to distribute controlled substances.

His upcoming EP, Here for a Reason: In The Darkest Time, is slated for release on August 16. The project will feature tracks like “Gotta Do Better & Pray” and “Give Me A Sign,” the latter of which includes a collaboration with YoungBoy Never Broke Again, who is also dealing with legal challenges.
