Dr. Dre Sets His Sights on Archery For The LA 2028 Olympics
In a new interview with Entertainment Tonight, renowned producer Dr. Dre revealed a surprising ambition – he wants to compete in archery at the 2028 Olympics in Los Angeles. Dre, who helped close out the 2024 Olympics with a performance alongside Snoop Dogg, is now determined to transition from the stage to the field of play.
“I’m dead-ass serious,” he began. “I actually started playing around with archery in junior high.
“I stopped for a while, and my son bought me a setup — I don’t know if was for my birthday or Father’s Day or something like that. So I have it set up in my backyard. I heard that qualifying for the Olympics is 77 feet, and I practice at 90. Wouldn’t that be interesting to go, especially with it being here in L.A., and win the gold medal?”
While it’s unclear how seriously Dr. Dre is pursuing further involvement, it would be unwise to dismiss the possibility of more success from the renowned hip-hop mogul.
Over the weekend, Dr. Dre and longtime collaborator Snoop Dogg gave a preview of the California-influenced entertainment planned for the 2028 Olympics during their performance at the Paris Games closing ceremony in Los Angeles. In the interview Dre participated in with ET, he shared that him and Snoop are nearing completion of their new album, which they plan to release in November to coincide with the 31st anniversary of Doggystyle on November 23.
