Cardi B Files for Divorce from Offset [Again] After Seven Years of Marriage
Cardi B has filed for divorce from Offset once more, her representative confirmed to Page Six. This news comes after the couple’s seven-year marriage.
The “WAP” artist reportedly filed on Wednesday, seeking primary custody of their 5-year-old daughter Kulture and 2-year-old son Wave.
Billboard has reached out to representatives of both parties as well as Cardi’s legal team for comment.
This marks the second time Cardi has filed for divorce from Offset since their 2017 wedding. She previously sought to end their marriage in September 2020, clarifying to fans that it wasn’t “because of cheating,” despite persistent infidelity rumors surrounding the Migos rapper since nearly the beginning of their relationship.
“I just got tired of f—ing arguing,” she explained at the time. “I got tired of not seeing things eye to eye.”
However, within a month, Cardi announced that she and the “Stir Fry” rapper had reconciled, leading to the case being dismissed in early November 2020. “It’s hard not to talk to your best friend,” she said on Instagram Live about their rekindling.
“It’s really hard not to talk to your best friend. And it’s really hard to have no di–.”
Their romance endured several more rough patches over the next four years, including additional cheating rumors and a social media spat between the spouses. Cardi eventually confirmed that they had split again, saying on Instagram Live in December 2023, “I’ve been single for a minute now.”
Despite the separation, fans were hopeful in recent months that the couple was reconciling. They spent New Year’s together, Offset directed Cardi’s “Like What (Freestyle)” music video in March, and they were seen on a date at a New York Knicks game in April. Additionally, Cardi thanked Offset for showering her with Mother’s Day gifts in May.
Cardi has acknowledged the complexity of her relationship with Offset, telling Rolling Stone in May, “We’re best friends… It’s not even about ‘How do you leave a partner?’ How do you stop talking to your best friend?”
