JT Is Paper Mag’s Cover Girl + New Documentary Ahead of Mixtape
JT’s debut project, City Cinderella, is set to hit streaming services on Friday, July 19. This marks her first solo work following City Girls’ apparent split earlier this year.
On Tuesday, July 16, JT discussed her upcoming release in a cover story with PAPER Magazine. She clarified that City Cinderella is a mixtape, not an album, despite its 16 tracks.
“City Cinderella is definitely a mixtape,” JT explained. “People work on their albums for a year. Albums are just different. So, City Cinderella is not my first album because I made this project so fast.”
She added,
“I had to create this project while on tour and moving around, so I didn’t have time to really nurture it. This is just something I’m putting out based on my pure instincts.”
Among the confirmed unreleased tracks are “Intro (Hope),” “Servin’,” and “JT’s Coming.” Pre-release singles include “Sideways” and “OKAY,” with the latter featuring a remix by Jeezy.
Although “No Bars” didn’t make the final cut for City Cinderella, JT expressed how significant the song is to her, especially after the low album sales of City Girls’ RAW. “I was like, ‘Oh my God, it’s over,’ and then ‘No Bars’ went viral again. That song got me through a lot. It will always be special to me. I’m sad it’s not on my debut project, but it did what it needed to do to get me where I am today,” she shared.
The City Cinderella Tour is scheduled to kick off on August 20 in Kansas City, Missouri, with stops in New York, Charlotte, Atlanta, Philadelphia, Dallas, and more. As of now, no supporting acts have been announced.
