Big Sean Addresses Haters in “On The Radar” Freestyle Amid Diss Speculations

Big Sean is back and his sixth studio album is set to be released later this year. To tide fans over, he appeared on “On The Radar” on Tuesday, July 16, for a freestyle. The Detroit native delivered bars over Aaliyah’s “If Your Girl Only Knew” for nearly three minutes, with a J Dilla cap covering the mic.

Some listeners interpreted his raps as subtle digs at other artists. In particular, Big Sean rapped, “N**gas looking for engagement like they got their knee bent / I got better things to do than find someone to beef with / Or else I’m off the deep end.” Many believed these lines referenced the ongoing feud between Kendrick Lamar and Drake.

He also rapped, “Man, this industry is terrible, I can’t even vouch / I seen grown men get matching tattoos for the clout / I had trainwrecks and kicked homewreckers out of my house.” Fans took these lines as shots at Kanye West, who got matching tattoos with Steve Lacy and Lil Uzi Vert in 2022.

Big Sean quickly took to Twitter to address the speculation.

“F**k these b**ch a** n**gas, every one of them,” he tweeted. In another post, he wrote, “Y’all going with so many narratives. I’m talking to the haters who just keep finding something to point out they don’t like about me. It’s not even worth explaining though. I’m just going to focus on the music.”

In March, Big Sean released “Precision” following loose singles like “Whole Time (Freestyle)” and a mini-documentary titled Clarity. His last album, Detroit 2, came out in 2020 and featured artists like Lil Wayne, Post Malone, Young Thug, and Ty Dolla Sign.

Additionally, Big Sean will publish his first book, “Go Higher: Five Practices for Purpose, Success, and Inner Peace,” in October.
