Let us know if you agree, and which records you would have recommended!

10. Capella Grey – “Strings” (feat. French Montana & Fivio Foreign)

Capella grey is officially dubbed the mayor of uptown nyc. the bronx born, jamaican native launched onto the scene during the pandemic (2021 to be exact) with his viral hit, “gyalis” and has made a name for himself after sampling juvenile’s 1998 classic “back that azz up.” he then went on to release a few other top contenders, like the ty dolla $ign-assisted “ot” and “confujawn” (feat. nija) before collaborating with chris brown, joey bada$$, and king combs to name a few. after hitting stages like hot 97’s summer jam to rolling loud over the last few years since his emergence, capella has created quite the buzz. after leaving capitol records, he’s entered a new joint venture with 10k projects for his atf label, where he will finally release his long-awaited studio debut, vibe resPonsibly, vol. 1 a.k.a VRV1 on june 21, just in time for the summer.

9. GloRilla – “Wanna Be” (Remix) (feat. Megan thee Stallion & Cardi B)

Memphis’ very own glorilla is one of today’s surging female rappers of the new generation. she burst onto the scene just 2 years ago with her viral hit, “f.n.f. (let’s go)” and then made a splash after tapping her cousin and rap star cardi b on “tomorrow 2” before releasing her first project, anyways, life’s great… in 2022. yo gotti’s Protégé almost lost her steam, but reignited her spot as one of rap’s leading ladies when she dropped the now popular, “yeah glo!” back in February. she’s currently on tour with Houston hottie Megan thee stallion as an opener and even collaborated with the grammy award-winning star on her latest single, “wanna be” before asking bardi to hop on the remix, where the bronx native is heard taking shots at fellow rapper bia.

8. NLE Choppa – “SLUT ME OUT 2”

Here’s another Memphis superstar who is the youngest in charge right now and might i add, the king of the gen z wave. nle choppa shows no sign of letting up or slowing down anytime soon, and guess what? he’s only 21 years old. in 2024 alone, the “slut me out” rapper has already released 3 full-length projects (the chosen ones, shotta flow series & certified). with a supportive momager [momma choppa] by his side, a dedicated fan-base, billions of streams and riaa-certified plaques, nle got the summer on lock.

7. Tinashe – “Nasty”

it’s been well over a decade since we were introduced to R&B/pop sensation tinashe. and while she’s experienced success in the music business, it came with some challenges over the years. she parted ways with her label rca records in 2019 and since then has been riding the independent lane through her own subsidiary in conjunction with nice life (and previously equity distribution). to date, she’s already released 5 projects under her belt (songs for you, comfort & joy, 333, 333 (deluxe), & bb/ang3l). her latest offering, “nasty” was released back in april and has been fan favorite on tiktok, instagram, and is sure to make an impact this summer.

6. Tommy Richman – “MILLION DOLLAR BABY”

hailing all the way from Woodbridge, Virginia comes a newcomer by the name of tommy richman. some of you may not be familiar with him just yet, and others may think he’s some “industry plant” who popped out of nowhere, but according to a recent complex article, the rising star whose responsible for arguably the song of the summer with “million dollar baby” is no stranger to music. in fact, he’s been actively putting out songs dating back to 2016 via soundcloud and is the Protégé of fellow R&B singer Brent Faiyaz. “million” has already peaked at no. 2 on the billboard hot 100 list and spawned four weeks at no. 1 on TikTok Billboard Top 50. with nearly 50 million monthly listeners on spotify, being on the road with brent, it looks like tommy is in good hands.

5. Kehlani – “After Hours”

Kehlani is enjoying quite the success from her lead single, “after hours” off her forthcoming third studio album, crash (june 21). the dance heavy anthem has already garnered plenty of traction on social media, and if that wasn’t enough, the 29 year old oakland native released a destiny’s child-inspired “cater 2 u mix,” which has been bumping up its streaming numbers. kehlani has also been very vocal and has taken a stance on what’s been happening in Palestine. recently, she called out her peers and the music industry for not stepping up to the plate and making a difference. as an artist whose always spoke up about injustice over the years, kehlani started her own fundraiser to help the people of Palestine, Congo, and Sudan. her “next 2 u” campaign has raised more than $555,000 to end the war on the Palestinian people, as well as the people of war-torn Sudan and the Democratic Republic of Congo.

4. JT – “OKAY”

fresh off the heels of a promising solo career, city girl’s jt is proving to the world she has what it takes to stand on her very own. the miami bombshell is all about bars and fashion, with an attitude and sass like none other. she’s already nabbed features with nicki minaj, doechii, summer walker, just to name a few. her cuts “no bars” and “sideways” had fans yearning for more while bumping heavy by dj’s all over the country. now with her latest viral hit “okay,” she’s proving that she is that girl and can hang with the best of them amongst her peers. jatavia’s solo effort, city Cinderella will release soon.

3. Cash Cobain, Bay Swag – “Fisherrr” (Remix) (feat. Ice Spice)

Bronx-born rapper and producer Cash cobain is dubbed the “sample god” and probably found himself with the biggest song in new york city right now with “fisherrr,” a collaboration with fellow new yorker, bay swag. the song alone caught so much traction and coined the term “sexy drill” that it become a fan favorite amongst the ladies. rap’s princess ice spice loved the record so much that she even got tapped for the official remix. cash cobain got listed as one of billboard’s artists to watch 2024 back in February.

2. Sexyy Red – “Get It Sexyy”

st. Louis’ ratchet queen sexyy red has probably had a better year then some of your favorites. with a co-sign from drake and nicki minaj, the mother of 2 already got the summer in a chokehold. mark my words. earlier this month, the “poundtown” star landed at no. 2 on billboard’s 10 hottest female rappers right now, ranked right under minaj, who came in at no. 1 and rightfully so. “Get it sexyy” is currently a billboard top 40 hit, thanks to a drake cameo and an ode to soulja boy’s “crank that” in it’s visual.

1. Kendrick Lamar – “Not Like Us”

The top spot contender is undeniably k.dot with this year’s record of the year, and most definitely song of the summer with his drake-diss “not like us.” not only has this song been a tiktok phenom, it is a cultural revolution in hip-hop and the history behind what the genre truly stands for: it’s competitive nature. if there’s ever a top 10 diss or battle records, this will undoubtedly make THE ENTRY ON THE LIST. RELEASED JUST OVER A MONTH AGO (MAY 2024), “Not Like Us” Becomes THE Fastest Hip-Hop Song in History To Reach 300 Million Spotify Streams, CEMENTING HIM AS ONE OF THE GREATEST EMCEES TODAY.

BONUS: Tyla – “Jump” (feat. Gunna & Skillibeng)

When it comes to afrobeat, there’s quite a few rookies dominating the genre across the globe. south africa’s strikingly gorgeous tyla is one of them. in fact, she’s crossed over into the u.s. market and has already built a household name for herself. this year alone, she’s earned her first grammy trophy beating out some of her respectable peers (ayra starr, burna boy). the “water” singer has already drawn comparisons to global icon rihanna and recently released her self-titled debut album through epic records.

Judging by our list, it looks like the ladies are taking over the summer by storm, leading the pack with some of the hottest season anthems and club bangers alike.
