Nicki Minaj Leaves Fans Guessing: Is She Hinting at New Music or Relationship News?

Nicki Minaj has sparked confusion among her fans with a cryptic post on her X (formerly Twitter) account on Monday.

The 41-year-old rapper, currently touring globally for her Pink Friday 2 World Tour, used the social media platform to share an Instagram post flaunting her new Dolce and Gabbana dress from a recent stop in Paris, France.

On the same day, she cryptically wrote, “Yes Single …,” leaving fans guessing about the meaning behind her message.

The post led fans to speculate whether she’s teasing a new single (most likely) or providing a vague update on her relationship status.

Born Onika Tanya Maraj, Minaj tied the knot with her high school sweetheart Kenneth Petty in October 2019, and they share a 3-year-old son, referred to publicly as Papa Bear.

The rapper has staunchly defended her husband against criticism on social media regarding his criminal record.

Petty’s status as a sex offender stems from a 1994 incident when a 16-year-old girl accused him of raping her at knifepoint. Petty, also 16 at the time, faced first-degree rape charges. Initially denying the allegations, he later pleaded guilty to attempted rape, serving over four years in prison and being required to register as a sex offender.

In November 2019, during a traffic stop, Petty was found to be unregistered as a sex offender in California after relocating from New York, according to his booking sheet obtained by ET.

Petty was indicted for failing to register as a sex offender in California in March 2020, subsequently self-surrendering, as confirmed by the U.S. Marshals on social media. Released on a $20,000 bond, he was sentenced in July 2022 to a year of house arrest, three years of probation, and a $55,000 fine, as confirmed by ET at the time.

More recently, Petty was granted permission to travel internationally while on probation.

Minaj’s enigmatic post garnered mixed reactions from her fans online.

“Nicki is dropping a new single or is single, we won either way,” one X user commented.

“She literally just announced pink friday girls is the next single. How slow are y’all?” another user replied.

This cryptic post follows Minaj’s cancellation of her second Amsterdam tour date over a week ago due to alleged drug possession.

Arrested at Amsterdam’s Schiphol Airport on May 25 for reportedly having marijuana in her luggage, classified as a “soft drug” in the Netherlands, Minaj postponed her Pink Friday 2 World Tour concert at Co-op Live in Manchester, England.

On May 31, Dutch promoter Mojo announced the cancellation of Minaj’s June 2 show at Amsterdam’s Ziggo Dome.

“Due to the events of last week, the Nicki Minaj show on Sunday, 2nd June at Ziggo Dome, Amsterdam will no longer be taking place,” the company stated. “Tickets will be refunded at the point of sale.”

This announcement came shortly after Minaj shared an update following her arrest on X.

In her post, Minaj shared her perspective on the incident and apologized to fans, promising to reschedule the canceled show and provide an added bonus for ticket holders.

Since then, Minaj has performed a rescheduled Manchester show and additional dates in Birmingham, London, and Glasgow. She will continue her tour with stops in Germany and Poland following her Paris performance.
