Nicki Minaj’s Husband Receives House Arrest Sentence for Threatening Offset
Nicki Minaj’s Husband, Kenneth “Zoo” Petty, Sentenced to House Arrest for Threatening Offset on Social Media.
Kenneth “Zoo” Petty, husband of rapper Nicki Minaj, is facing legal consequences after making threats towards Offset on social media, a violation of his probation, as determined by a judge.
According to court documents unveiled on Twitter by reporter Meghann Cuniff on Wednesday, Petty has been sentenced to 120 days of house arrest. This decision comes in response to his Instagram Live video where he called out Offset, the former member of Migos.
An LA federal judge has ordered Nicki Minaj's husband, Kenneth Petty, to serve "up to" 120 days on home detention for "making threatening remarks toward a specific individual while in the company of someone with a criminal record."

In July 2022, the 45-year-old had been placed on three years’ probation and one year of house detention after failing to register as a sex offender in California. This incident occurred after he and Nicki relocated to California in 2019, shortly before their marriage.
Petty’s status as a sex offender originates from a 1995 conviction for the first-degree attempted rape of a 16-year-old girl, which resulted in him serving four years in prison.
The court order states, “Mr. Petty was recorded on video making threatening remarks towards a specific individual while in the company of someone with a criminal record. This recent violation conduct raises concerns over Mr. Petty’s willingness to comply with the Court’s orders. As such, the Probation Officer believes placement in the Location Monitoring Program will effectively allow for closer monitoring of Mr. Petty’s activities, limit his movements, provide a sanction for his non-compliance, and hopefully encourage him to reflect upon and reevaluate his current status in the community.”
Additionally, the document mentions that “the supervisee and defense counsel consent to modification and waive a personal appearance before the Court,” indicating that Petty did not contest the order.
The incident leading to these legal actions involved video footage that surfaced showing Kenneth Petty threatening Offset late at night in an empty New York street, accompanied by a few associates. The video was allegedly filmed outside the hotel where rapper Cardi B and Offset were staying.

In the video, Petty can be heard menacingly saying, “Sturdy, n-gga. What’s poppin’? Where n-ggas is at, man? Huh? Plan that vacation but we’re planning your funeral, pussy.”
Offset seemingly responded to Petty’s threat in a video posted on his social media accounts, where he laughed off the situation while disembarking from a private jet.
“I’m getting off a jet, he’s funny,” Offset chuckled. “F-ck these n-ggas talkin’ ’bout? … These n-ggas broke! We hoppin’ off jets. Y’all n-ggas standing outside talkin’ ’bout ‘outside.’ Extremely broke!”

Rumors suggest that this exchange may have been ignited by Kenneth Petty and his group threatening Cardi B at the 2023 MTV VMAs earlier in the month, to which Cardi responded on Twitter by writing, “I ain’t even flinch.”

Furthermore, one of Petty’s associates shared Instagram DMs that allegedly came from Offset after the awards show, where Offset inquired about Petty’s whereabouts and made remarks about the situation.
