PnB Rock’s Girlfriend Opens Up About Struggles with Deep Depression Since His Passing: “I Will Push Thru”
On the solemn one-year anniversary of the tragic shooting that claimed the life of Philadelphia rapper PnB Rock, his girlfriend, Stephanie Sibounheuang, bravely shared her battle with depression following his untimely passing.
In a heartfelt Instagram message addressed to her 700,000 followers, the designer and influencer began, “I’ve been in the deepest depression for a lil min contemplating todays date, which makes a year since your transition,”
Sibounheuang, who is a mother to a 3-year-old daughter named Xuri, continued her candid post:
“I argued with God about openly reliving this day and i absolutely did not want to, so this is an act of obedience,” Sibounheuang, who shares a 3-year-old daughter Xuri with the rapper, continued in her post. “This same day last year, you could look into my eyes and and tell my soul was not in my body.”
PnB Rock, born Rakim Hasheem Allen, tragically lost his life on September 12, 2022, during a robbery while dining with Sibounheuang at Los Angeles’ Roscoe’s House of Chicken ‘N Waffles restaurant. He was just 30 years old.
Sibounheuang recalled the harrowing moments, saying:
“All I could hear were the gunshots over and over and they were so LOUD I couldn’t hear myself think. I was so terrified and heartbroken,” Sibounheuang recalled. “You came to me and Lani wearing all white and said those were not gunshots, they were fireworks.”
In the fateful incident last September, a suspect approached the rapper, demanding jewelry and other items. Tragically, the suspect then pulled out a gun and shot PnB Rock multiple times, resulting in his untimely death. The assailant fled the scene in a getaway vehicle.
Subsequently, the police arrested a woman named Shauntel Trone and a minor in connection with PnB Rock’s death. LAPD also identified Freddie Lee Trone as “a person involved.”
Several weeks after the rapper’s death, Sibounheuang, 32, expressed her gratitude on Instagram, acknowledging that PnB Rock had saved her life by shielding her under a table during the attack. She wrote:
“My man saved my life, Throwing me under that table. I’m not supposed to be here but bc of him. I am,” she wrote. “No one would be able to handle this.”
In closing her heartfelt post, Sibounheuang pledged to honor PnB Rock’s memory by finding joy and celebrating his life, echoing his wishes. She expressed her deep love and loyalty to him, recognizing his heroism and legendary status. Sibounheuang’s message was one of hope and resilience, as she vowed to live life to the fullest, appreciating every day.
“So today, I will push thru and be joyful and celebrate you, just like you asked me to do. For I know this Earth is temporary and we will spend eternity together. You’re a legend and not only that…but a hero. I’m forever yours and forever loyal to you,” Sibounheuang concluded in her post. “I will live my life to the fullest because you gave your life for me. Thank you Lord for carrying us through a whole year and every day after this. 12/09-09/12 @pnbrock ♾️.”
PnB Rock was renowned for his breakout hit “Selfish,” which debuted in 2017. His collaboration with YFN Lucci in 2016, “Everyday We Lit,” reached No. 33 on the Billboard Hot 100.
