Snoh Aalegra’s “Be My Summer” Needs More Attention!

Pure R&B bliss was on full display with Snoh Aakegra’s recent offering “Be My Summer.” The Swedish singer has a penchant of taking older R&B tropes and adding a refreshing twist to it. Her cover of the late Bobby Caldwell’s classic single “What You Won’t Do” with “Dying 4 Your Love” released last year was critically acclaimed and left fans clamoring for more.
This time with “Be My Summer” Snoh channels more of a SWV and Faith Evan’s approach to music. The soft and elegant voice of Aalegra is balanced perfectly by a seductive 90s love ballad production that gives listeners feelings of romancing your partner on a beautiful summer day. Snoh’s songwriting really shines with this track, “be my summer, protect from the rain, thunder and all!” Whew, what a clever way of using the weather to illustrate all the stages of a relationship.
