Tony Shhnow has just shared his new project Love Streak with features from R&B star DRAM, Mavi, UnoTheActivist under his new artist name Act, and others, along with a new music video for “If It Wasn’t For Me.”
Fresh off of a booked and busy 2022, as well as the releases of Love Streak‘s two singles “Real Rare” and “ILY / IH8U”, Tony Shhnow is using the entirety of Love Streak, whose name is a spin-off of Tony’s official Kill Streak mixtape series, to continue expanding upon his dynamic sound. “Real Rare” is a track jam-packed with clever tongue-in-cheek punchlines over minimalist, spacious production –– giving Tony the room to showcase his practiced bar-work and welcomed introspection. The new project is a strong shift for Tony, as he replaces cold-hearted raps with flirtatious bars over smooth-sailing Solange, SWV & Kut Klose samples.
The new video single “If It Wasn’t For Me” samples Solange‘s “T.O.N.Y”, with him following the theme of the track to a tea –– speaking on lost love and maintaining relationships amongst his fast-paced lifestyle. Produced by frequent collaborators Grimm Doza and CashCache, the project only includes features that coincide with Tony’s new artistic direction—“On The Street” finds Tony sparring with lyrical phenom Mavi, while “Reminisce” features the R&B superstar DRAM who contributes his signature soothing vocals to the track. As a whole, Love Streak showcases Tony Shhnow’s extensive artistic palette, expressive lyrical abilities, and a rarely heard but welcomed emotional presence across its 16 songs.
