Pharrell Brings Out Diddy, Chris Brown & More At Something In The Water Festival
After performances from heavyweight acts ranging from Lil Wayne to Kaytranada, Virginia’s native hitmaker finished Saturday night with a star-studded set in his festival’s return to his hometown of Virginia Beach. Bringing out guests like Diddy, Busta Rhymes, A$AP Rocky, De La Soul, and Chris Brown. In a lot of ways this set is a statement of just how long Pharrell has been dominant in the music industry, dating back to when he and fellow Neptunes producer, Chad Hugo, took the world by storm.
Diddy was joined by Busta Rhymes performing “Pass the Courvoisier Ciroc” while A$AP Rocky performed his Pharrell-produced song, “Roddy Piper.”
Chris Brown was the last artist brought out, starting his performance off with his hit song “Loyal.” Taking the audience on a journey back over a decade with his song “Look At Me Now” with Busta Rhymes jumping in to perform his verse on the record before closing out with a recent song in “Under the Influence.” Pharrell also took that time to give the “country boy from Tappahannock” his flowers before he left the stage.
“Little bro, there’s only one you. And we’re gonna give this man his flowers once again. Make some noise for Virginia’s own, the dancing-ist, singing-ist, craziest video-making-singing dude in R&B and pop music until now—make some noise for our brother Chris Brown.” as he addressed Brown and the crowd.
