Decatur Born Artist Shawty Slime Unleashes New Single “Thank Yakree”

From the beginning, “Thank Yakree” introduces Shawty Slime as an outsider. The Decatur, GA native’s flow proves both unconventional and undeniable as it winds around the thick, brooding beat. In one breath, he locks into a magnetic melody only to cut through the next moment with intense spirit. The track’s nimble rhyme patterns and hypnotic hook illuminate the dynamics at the heart of his approach. Kicked out of his grandmother’s house, Shawty often slept in the park—narrowly avoiding coyotes and other danger. Nevertheless, he proceeded to release music at a prolific pace.
