Two Astroworld Lawsuits Settled With Victims’ Families
With the one-year anniversary of 2021’s Astroworld tragedy approaching next month, two families have already reached settlements in lawsuits with festival organizers According to TMZ, the family of 21-year-old Axel Acosta, one of the ten victims who lost their lives at the event, has finally reached an agreement with festival organizer, Live Nation. While the terms of the deal will remain “confidential” it has been officially confirmed that one has been made.
“Victim Axel Acosta was a beloved son, brother, and student. He was kind and loving. He is greatly missed. Please keep his family in your prayers,” said the family’s attorney, Tony Buzbee, in a statement.
Sources close to Travis Scott spoke with Complex stating that “no member of Travis’ team has participated in any Astroworld settlement discussions.”
While Acosta’s family has been able to reach a settlement there are still hundreds of plaintiffs seeking restitution for the tragic events that occurred on Nov. 5 at NRG Park in Houston. There, 50,000 fans gathered for the 31-year-old rapper’s annual music festival before chaos broke leaving some fans trampled and unable to breathe. Buzbee also confirmed that Acosta died from compressive asphyxiation after being caught in the crowd.
