Event Recap: REVOLT x Xfinity Short & Fresh Film Fest: HBCU Edition Highlights HBCU Filmmakers

Hosted by actress and comedian B.Simone, the REVOLT x Xfinity Short & Fresh Film Fest showcased a variety of entertainment, including short film screenings; insightful panels featuring Irv Gotti, Troy Millings, Rashad Bilal, and Etienne Maurice; and musical performances by Jayson Lyric and Nathaniel The Great. It was an incredible day of culture and creativity aimed at empowering and elevating the voices and stories of HBCU creators.
Featured films from up-and-coming HBCU filmmakers, REVOLT, and Xfinity Black Experience explored Hip Hop culture, the complexities of Black identity and coming of age. The film contest winners include:
- Kiah Clingman, Howard University (Eavesdropping on the Elders)
- Jeffery “J-Squared” Jackson, Lincoln University of Missouri (Mindf*cked)
- Kerri Garrett, Clark Atlanta (Attitude)
- Marcus Lorenzo, Bethune-Cookman University (Plus One).
The four winning films can be viewed on Xfinity and will be available on REVOLT in November.
