Russ Drops ‘If Not Now, When?’ EP & Announces World Tour

It’s been a while since we’ve received a project from the New Jersey native but he hasn’t disappointed us yet. Russ is independent and has never been ashamed of it. Oftentimes moving to his own accord, he’s had a past of putting together bodies of work that display both his lyrical prowess and ability to make melody hooks that can turn into popular hits. Initially announced last week (April 20), this project is concise: short and to the point but also doesn’t shortchange listeners. It’s evident that the Diemon co-founder has opted to choose quality over quantity. While each song is different from the next – they’re undeniably good – you have records like ‘Waves’ where an introspective Russ raps over a somber instrumental about how his lifestyle & success leads to loneliness, of all things. He’s made it to a point in his career where he’s totally in control of himself but that doesn’t stop him from feeling the pressures of self-doubt. He knows that life comes with its highs and lows which could explain the transition to the next song ‘Back From London Freestyle’ where the braggadocious persona that we see so much of makes a return in a gritty, bar-filled track.

Weeks before the 4-track project dropped, Russ announced he would be going on a world tour titled “The Journey Is Everything”. He is slated to start the tour off on April 29 in Seattle and will wrap the tour in New Zealand. Rappers Bia, Bugus and KTLYN are slated to join Russ on the tour.
