Known for his excellent portrayal of Ol’ Dirty Bastard on the Hulu hit drama, Wu-Tang: An American Saga, Northern Philadelphia-born rapper and actor TJ Atoms released his new single ‘Potato Chips’ during the last week of October. The spacey 808 filled melody serves as a unique but effective background for TJ Atoms to lay his impressive bars down. Throughout the track, Atoms raps about a multitude of topics with lines such as “give back to the hood and they’ll show you love, they acting a fool when they play this s**t out in the hood probably eating potato chips” and “I’m going to Ghana to see who I really am.”
With ‘Potato Chips’ now a few weeks old, fans of TJ Atoms may be wondering what’s next for the young actor and rapper. “Music has always been a passion of mine since 16,” says Atoms shedding some light on his inspiration and future, “It’s another way for me to story-tell and express where I’m from and best of all, where I’m going. I’m giving a taste with Potato Chips and coming with more heat soon. It’s just the beginning.”
With the second season of Wu-Tang: An American Saga now out on Hulu, ‘Potato Chips’ serving as a strong precursor to the next phase in his evolution as a rapper, and news that Atoms will appear in the new Hulu series Iron Mike, the sails of Atoms’ career appear to be catching a lot of wind. It may not be a question of if, but instead a question of when Atoms will become a household name in entertainment.
