After almost a year away from music Portland’s Aminé returns with a new track and music video. Fans haven’t heard from Aminé since he released the deluxe version of his last project Limbo in early December 2020. Limbo served Aminé’s fanbase well with tracks like ‘Woodlawn,’ ‘Compensating’ featuring Young Thug, and ‘RiRi’ proving to be the favorites of the album. Additionally, Limbo proved to be Aminé’s most successful album thus far, peaking at the sixteenth spot on the Billboard 200.

‘Charmander’ is produced by Aksel Arvid and Lido featuring K-Pop-influenced melody under the Hip-Hop percussions. Aminé’s bars throughout the track come off as braggadocios with lines such as, “look, these niggas be my sons; without me, they’d be done” and “look, my energy is priceless, told my jeweler, ‘ice this.’”

The ‘Charmander’ music video may be one of the best of the year featuring trippy visuals like Aminé’s seemingly ten-foot dog and the Portland rapper executing daily tasks such as reading, working out, and chopping wood amongst others. These scenes are mainly executed through the speeding up of the visuals which creates a time warp aspect that compliments the beat of the track perfectly.

While it’s unclear whether ‘Charmander’ is just a loose single or the start of a rollout for Aminé’s follow-up to Limbo, Hip-Hop fans have been thoroughly entertained by this new song and music video.
