Celebrating his birthday along with the recent success of his 2021 project A Gangsta’s Pain, Moneybagg Yo circles back for a victory lap as he recruits Lil Wayne and Ashanti for the remix of his hit track ‘Wockesha.’ The original track is the latest addition on the list of tracks that sample DeBarge’s 1983 track ‘Stay With Me.’ Other popular tracks on that list with Moneybagg Yo’s ‘Wockesha’ are ‘One More Chance/Stay With Me (Remix)’ by The Notorious B.I.G. featuring Faith Evans and ‘Foolish’ by Ashanti.

I don’t think it’s any question what ‘Wockesha’ is really about, however with lyrics like “one minute I’m done with you, the next one I be runnin’ back, go your way, I go my way but somehow we be still attached,” there could be some room for confusion around the content of the track. However, any confusion is now dispelled with the inclusion of a clip from a Tim Westwood interview where Lil Wayne says, “But honestly, it ain’t nobody’s business what’s in my cup…the only reaction I did was got more popular, more successful, did a lot more things that I’ve ever done, I probably should pick that cup back up.”

The topic matter of the track makes Lil Wayne an amazing pick to be on the remix, however, also recruiting Ashanti to add her vocals to the familiar ‘Wockesha’ beat makes the track the epicenter of one of the best artist collaborations of the year. As Moneybagg Yo fans wait to see what’s on the horizon for one of 2021’s rising stars, the remix of ‘Wockesha’ should be able to hold them over in the meantime.
